About HMCP
The Hallmark Museum of Contemporary Photography believes the photographic arts encourage expression and communication of ideas which enliven the human imagination; document history and social change; and exert a creative influence on contemporary thought and culture.
HMCP provides the facilities and resources necessary for exhibition, study, and research of the photographic medium. The Museum will implement its institutional philosophy through public lectures, seminars, and publications and with an active on-line presence.
Exhibition Schedule and Criteria
HMCP will mount between four and eight changing exhibitions each year. Within the genre of contemporary photography, exhibitions will feature the work of regional, national, and international photographers as well as lesser known and emerging talents.
Some exhibitions will be devoted to the work of individual photographers. Others will be group or theme shows. Exhibitions will feature photographs from the HMCP collections, as well as those solicited through invitation to individual photographers or, through open calls to the photographic community. Exhibition proposals from individuals, agents, or publishers will be considered, as will traveling exhibitions from other institutions.
Works to be exhibited must have been originated since 1975 and be of a caliber that meets the highest photographic standards. Traditional, alternative, and digital processes will all be considered in exhibition planning.
